The New England Patriots have already filled the open roster spot, signing running back JaMycal Hasty off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This move comes very soon after the Patriots released second-year cornerback Jack Jones.
Hasty signed with the San Fransisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2020, but was waived as part of final roster cuts and brought back to the practice squad. He appeared in eight games his rookie season with 39 carries for 148 yards and one touchdown.
In 2012, the running back began the season on injured reserve, but was activated and appeared in 11 games.
As part of final roster cuts, Hasty was waived prior to the 2022 season, but was claimed by the Jaguars the next day. He served as the second running back behind Travis Etienne, having his best career season.
This past season, Hasty played in three games before being waived on Saturday.
Across his four years, the running back has a total of 101 carries for 410 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, along with 50 receptions for 316 yards and one touchdown across 39 games.
The Patriots already have Ezekiel Elliott and Rhamondre Stevenson, who serve as the primary backs. But bringing Hasty in will allow for some additional depth.
