NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars from EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday with hopes of getting back into contention.
It's a must-win game for the 3-6 Titans, but also sure to be a challenge for Tennessee. Jacksonville has given them problems in the past, winning both matchups in 2022 as a difficult team to matchup with defensively.
With that in mind, here are two bets to take (on BetMGM.com) for Titans and Jaguars in Week 11.
Evan Engram Over 44.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
I really don't understand why this line is sitting so low. Engram has gone over this mark in six of nine games so far in 2023 and is sure to be a popular target for Trev0r Lawrence on Sunday.
Engram is 240 pounds with the speed of a wide receiver. I'm not confident that someone on this Titans defense is going to be able to stay with him in coverage. The slot corners are probably too small and the linebackers are probably too slow.
Engram had 11 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns when he played the Titans in Nashville last season, and given this defense being so prone to allowing explosive plays, I wouldn't be surprised to see him break another couple big plays.
"It's a challenge. They do a nice job of getting him catch-and-run opportunities, keepers, things on the move, boots. He's quick, he's fast, he builds speed," said Titans head coach Mike Vrabel earlier this week when asked about facing Engram. "His average per catch is what it is. It's eight or nine yards. And to me, watching on film, it's either 24 yards or it's two. And so, he has the ability to take those two or three-yard routes and turn them in to 25-yard gains if you're not careful, and you don't tackle and you're not good in a perimeter when a ball gets out there."
Travis Etienne Over 21.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
I'm also putting my money on Jaguars running back Travis Etienne to rack up more than 21.5 rushing yards on the day.
Like Engram, Etienne has also hit this mark in six of his nine appearances this season and when the Jaguars win, Etienne is usually heavily involved in the passing game. He is a dynamic runner with ability to make someone miss in space and turn short passes into massive gains. Jacksonville likes to throw him a few screens, and we all saw how bad the Titans' defense can be at defending those last weekend against Rachaad White and the Bucs.
As we have seen all year, the best way to nerf Tennessee's defense is by getting rid of the football quickly. The Titans are so reliant on pressuring the quarterback. If a quarterback is able to drop back and dump the ball off quickly, it forces the second level of Tennessee's defense to make a play. That's no easy task against Etienne.
"He's explosive. He runs with really good balance, he runs behind his pads, you don't see him falling," said Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen when I asked him about Etienne earlier this week. "He's gaining extra yards and he's top two or three in yards after missed tackles or whatever. He's a good player. They use him in the passing game and especially after last week I'm sure that's looking pretty good to them."
