The NFL has issued a $21,855 fine to Ronnie Stanley for an unnecessary roughness violation during the Week 10 matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns, according to the league’s accountability website.

Stanley delivered a helmet-to-helmet hit on Browns cornerback Denzel Ward during the first quarter of the divisional contest. Stanley was not flagged for the hit.

Ward was able to walk to the medical tent on his own power following the play, and he was evaluated for a concussion. The sixth-year cornerback ended up clearing concussion protocols but was later ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a neck injury.

During a press conference on Thursday, Ward called out Stanley for the hit.

"Yeah, I kind of felt it was a little cheap shot," Ward said. "He got me. I felt it was an unnecessary hit and probably could have been a penalty on the play, but it’s football, stuff happens, so it’s all good."

Ward was included in the Browns’ injury report for their Week 11 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to his neck injury. He was limited in practice on Wednesday, but the Browns did not issue him any game status designation for the contest after he managed to be a full participant in practice on both Thursday and Friday.

Overall, this is the second time this season that Stanley has been fined. The NFL handed a $16,391 unnecessary roughness fine to the offensive tackle for his blindside block during the Ravens’ Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
