The past few weeks haven't exactly been perfect for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dropping the last three games after a hot start has done a lot to deflate the excitement around this franchise, but that doesn't mean all is lost.
3-4 and not in first place in the worst division in football doesn't look great, but the Bucs have a chance to turn their season around in a pretty dramatic way.
With six very winnable games in their next seven (with a chance to beat the 49ers on their current path), the Bucs can do a ton to change the outlook on their season over the next two months.
Tampa will play the Texans, Titans, 49ers, Colts, Panthers, Falcons, and the Packers over the next seven weeks.
That doesn't seem like a bad place to start for a team that is looking for a huge turnaround.
The AFC South might be the second-weakest division in football, second only to the NFC South. With two potential rookie quarterbacks on that list, a journeyman backup quarterback, and some exploitable defenses, all three of these games should favor Tampa's dominant defense and safe offense.
That trio of games should leave the Bucs at 2-1 at worst, and expecting 3-0 shouldn't be out of the question.
Moving on, the Panthers also have a rookie quarterback who only just earned his first win on an offense with limited weapons and behind a limited offensive line. And, for what it is worth, the same thing can be said about the Packers.
That leaves the Falcons, and losing to the Falcons twice in a season, especially after they benched their starting quarterback, should be a fireable offense for this coaching staff.
Lastly, the 49ers are as tough as always on defense, but their recent struggles could culminate in a perfect surprise beatdown by the Buccaneers if they can't make some fixes soon.
In all, the Bucs should easily be able to grab at least five wins out of their next seven if they are half the team we think they are, and more than that is certainly on the table if the franchise can find its grove.
It hasn't all been pretty, but a 5-2 run puts the Bucs at 8-6 going into the final few games of the season, and that would do a lot to change the overall perception on this team.
