The Tennessee Volunteers will be honoring the legendary Pat Summitt when they take on the UConn Huskies on Saturday.  Tennessee football head coach Josh Heupel announced on Monday the school's plan for doing so.

"November is Alzheimer's Awareness month, and we have the unique opportunity to honor the legacy of Pat Summitt," Heupel said. "We'll be doing that at the game with our uniform, but we'll also be doing it with a commemorative cup that everybody can purchase, a $1.00 purchase.  All of that will go to the UT medical research on Alzheimer's."

On Thursday, the university released the uniform that the Vols will wear on Saturday, and it has a very appropriate touch.

Tennessee did something similar last season, when the Vols accented their uniforms with "Summitt Blue" in the Vols matchup with Summitt's alma mater UT-Martin.  They wore them to honor Summitt and Title IX

The blue accessories are a nice touch to the traditional orange and white.  It combines and features all the colors that Summitt's teams wore as she turned the Lady Vols basketball program into a national powerhouse.  In her 38 seasons, Summitt led Tennessee to 16 SEC tournament titles, 16 SEC regular season titles 18 Final Four appearances, and 8 national championships.

This was the perfect week to bring them back, given the opponent.  Summitt's Lady Vols and Geno Auriemma's UConn Huskies put forth some classic battles as the top two programs in the sport during the 1990s and 2000s.

Summitt passed away in 2016 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.  However, her legacy lives on through the Pat Summitt Foundation, which was founded in 2011 to help seek a cure for the disease.

The Vols and Huskies kick off on Saturday at noon at Neyland Stadium.
