The New Orleans Saints have had a rollercoaster of a season so far in 2023. After the first couple of weeks of the season, emotions were positive. Fast forward to a month after that, and fans were calling for the jobs of Pete Carmichael Jr. and Derek Carr.

Now, the Saints are 5-4 and lead the NFC South. So far, what players have made the biggest difference so far?

Naming the Saints' four midseason MVPs before Week 10

Demario Davis

Not many things are as consistent as Demario in this world. Davis is still a top three linebacker in the NFL, and he's the clear vocal leader for New Orleans' defense. He's their leading tackler, but his knack for getting a stop on a crucial run play shows up weekly.

Not many linebackers are able to cover tight ends the way that Davis does, either. His balanced game is a large reason that the Saints keep making major plays in the second half of games to grab wins.

Rashid Shaheed

The need for speed is real with Shaheed. His game-reckoning speed has been massive for the Saints since he joined the roster, and this season has been no different. He's one of the best returners in the NFL, and he seemingly gets open on important third downs in crunch time for Derek Carr.

Need a late-game grab? He's got it. Need a kick/punt return to give your team a boost of momentum? Shaheed will handle it.

Paulson Adebo

Adebo has three interceptions and two forced fumbles this season. He's become the perfect CB2 on the outside alongside Pro Bowler Marshon Lattimore. They have been the best cornerback duo in the NFC for much of this season.

Many fans thought Alontae Taylor had overtaken Adebo on the depth chart entering the season. Clearly, that was not the case, and that was a smart decision by Dennis Allen and his defensive staff. Adebo is blossoming for the Saints.

Taysom Hill

Taysom time is all the time in New Orleans. Hill's role has grown even larger on offense this season, and he has been magnificent. His powerful running is basically unstoppable on short yardage/goal line situations, and he's even catching passes for Derek Carr weekly.

Hill has 20 receptions on the season, and he's 5/6 throwing the football, including a touchdown. On the ground, he's averaging over five yards per carry. When the offense needs a spark, Hill has often been the benefactor of it this season. The Saints need to keep getting him involved throughout games.

The Saints have had many impressive performers this season, but these four are the biggest reasons for their success so far.
