Just seven months ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded up in the draft for a franchise cornerstone at left tackle in Broderick Jones
Pittsburgh aimed to work Jones in slowly, with the idea that he would eventually unseat Dan Moore Jr.
But after some recent comments from what is supposed to be a veteran leader and one of Pittsburgh's highest-paid players in Chuks Okorafor, Dan Moore may not only have saved his job, but made a lot of money along the way:
A Path to Redemption?
Let's be clear. I'm not a proponent of giving Moore a big contract. He is better than people in the media try to paint him out to be, but he is certainly not a franchise cornerstone at LT.
What I am saying, is that because of Okorafor's benching, Broderick Jones has moved over to the right side to take his spot and Pittsburgh's offense has exploded on the ground ever since.
Pittsburgh would be insane to re-insert Okorafor into the lineup after the dominance the team and more specifically Broderick Jones has shown.
So now, the man who just months ago was an afterthought in Pittsburgh's future, has a whole second half of the year to show he's at the very least worth of a contract extension, which would be a major win given his draft status and current salary.
And the craziest part? None of it happens if Okorafor just keeps his lips sealed.
