Cleveland Browns' 2023 season took a twist with the news that Deshaun Watson will miss the season.

It now makes the Browns decision at the trade deadline hard to look past. Cleveland looked past trading for a quarterback because they felt Watson would heal enough and be fine.

That wasn’t the case and the shoulder ended up being a ticking time bomb. Another hard hit against the Ravens broke a bone in the same shoulder he injured in Week 3 and now the Browns are stuck in a tough spot.

Cleveland traded away Dobbs to Arizona for a fifth-round pick following the preseason. He was traded to the Vikings for a seventh-round pick a couple of weeks ago and is playing very well for them. The Browns could have got him back as a security blanket and they chose not to.

Washington likely would have given up Brissett for a fourth or fifth-round picked but Cleveland refused to make that move too. The Browns put all the chips in and it’s backfired.

Cleveland is now set to roll with P.J. Walker likely, or rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Two quarterbacks that have combined for basically nine turnovers in four games.

At the end of the season, it may look even worse for the Browns, who had already lost RB Nick Chubb to a season-ending injury.

The Browns' identity now rises solely on their very good defense and continuing to run the ball well. It’s easy to say that the injury wouldn’t hit Cleveland so hard if they had made a move at the deadline.
