The Cleveland Browns didn’t have Denzel Ward for the entirety of the second half against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 10 but still found a way to win.

Ward took a nasty shot to the head and neck area that forced him to leave the game and not return. The Pro Bowl cornerback confirmed what we already knew, it was a hit that doesn’t belong in the NFL.

“Kind of felt it was a cheap shot,” Ward said on Thursday. “It was an unnecessary hit, probably could have had a penalty on the play. But I don’t wish no bad on nobody. Just glad we got the win.”

The hit caught Ward blindsided as Stanley torpedoed into him head first, it’s one you know is bad right away. Still, there was no penalty called.

Browns S Grant Delpit reacts to play:

Delpit came to the defense of Ward, saying that the play was indeed one that didn’t belong. Delpit is often the one doing the hitting, so it means a bit more coming from him.

“We can’t have that in this league. We need to protect defensive players better,” Delpit said Thursday.

Within the next couple of days, the NFL will surely hand down a fine to Stanley, admitting they missed the call. Browns are just happy that Ward is okay and will be able to play in Week 11 against Pittsburgh.
