Mark Andrews suffered both a cracked fibula and an ankle ligament injury during the Baltimore Ravens’ home win over the Cincinnati Bengals, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport added that it is still "believed" that Andrews sustained a "long-term injury" on Thursday. The sixth-year tight end will touch base with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson next week for more info on his injury.
Andrews was an early exit in the Ravens’ home matchup against the Bengals after being on the end of a hip-drop tackle from linebacker Logan Wilson.
While Andrews was able to walk to the sideline on his own power and was also initially listed as questionable to return, Baltimore later ruled him out for the remainder of the divisional contest due to his ailment.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said after that game that Andrews "has a very serious ankle injury, it looks like a season-ending injury. Our prayers will be with Mark."
Andrews has tallied 45 catches for 544 receiving yards in 10 games played this season.
If the Ravens end up sidelining Andrews for the rest of the year, then they are expected to call on Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar to fill in for the three-time Pro Bowler at the tight end position. The two backup tight ends have combined for 10 receptions this season.
The Ravens will next be in action in Week 12 when they will square off with the Los Angeles Chargers.
