ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler suggested on Saturday that a former NFL Pro-Bowler/first round draft pick could be an option to replace Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow for the rest of the season.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed on Friday that Burrow will miss the rest of the 2023 season with a wrist injury that will likely require surgery.

Fowler suggested that Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill could be an option to replace Burrow, assuming Tannehill is able to work out a release from the Titans.

Tannehill, who will be a free agent after the 2023 season, has been relegated to a backup role in Nashville as the Titans are giving rookie quarterback Will Levis a shot as the starter in what amounts to a "lost season" for Tennessee.

"Perhaps Ryan Tannehill could be an option if he works out a release with Tennessee, due to his desire to play," wrote Fowler on Saturday

Tannehill told reporters on Friday that he hasn't asked for his release from the Titans, but he noted that he has a desire to play.

The former Pro Bowler hasn't played since October 15 due to an ankle injury, but he told reporters on Friday that he's "close" to being back to normal.
