Dallas Cowboys' Stephen Jones talked to 105.3 The Fan on Monday morning and was asked about the status of three starting offensive linemen who missed Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals: Tyron Smith, Tyler Biadasz, and Zack Martin.
His update was somewhat discouraging, as Jones claimed they could "absolutely not" be sure if all three would return in time to face the New England Patriots next week, who have the 11th-best defense in the NFL in EPA/play.
Each player is "week-to-week," Jones said during his interview, which reveals very little. It should be noted that he didn't dismiss the possibility of all three being back in the lineup, however. Even still, Jones' way of putting things is far from what Cowboys fans would love to hear as the team could be in for yet another game without the O-line combination they've wanted to take the field since before the 2022 season.
Following their first loss of the 2023 campaign, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy admitted the team entered Sunday without knowing if Tyron Smith would be ready to go. He was active but didn't take the field at any point during the game due to a knee injury that landed him on the injury report on Saturday before the team traveled to Arizona.
"I was hopeful (on Saturday)," McCarthy told reporters about the status of Biadasz and Martin. The Cowboys did know before getting on the plane that both of them wouldn't go against the Cardinals.
It should be noted McCarthy had optimism that Biadasz and Martin could go in Week 3 and considering Smith suited up on gameday (and looked pissed off on the sidelines all game long), he probably was close too. It'll come down to how their rehab progresses before the Cowboys host the Bill Belichick Patriots next weekend.
