Do the New England Patriots have some secret weapons ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys?

The Patriots signed Ezekiel Elliott prior to the start of the season and recently brought on Will Grier as the third-string quarterback, both of whom have spent time in the Cowboys organization.

Dallas' offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer told ESPN's Todd Archer that he thinks the Patriots could be leaning on those two a lot this week.

“We know Will knows where a lot of the bones are buried. We know Zeke does as well … I’m sure (Grier) is definitely being interrogated,” Schottenheimer said.

However, when asked about this report, Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien shut those rumors down.

"Interrogating! Schotty is a good guy, I've known Schotty for a long time. I think that's the way it is every week in this league, every year in this league. There's gonna be guys that come into your organization off of teams that you're about to play and it goes both ways," O'Brien said. "It's always going to happen so I don't think that really, at the end of the day you got to study the film. Everybody's got to be on the same page with what we're doing."

"I've never thought that in my years in the league that any of that was a real overriding factor in a win or a loss. It comes down to the players on the field and the coaches putting the players in the right positions to make plays. And that's what we're trying to do," O'Brien added. "I don't think we're trying to pull the light over anybody… We're not interrogating anybody. We're just trying to put together the best game plan we possibly can."

Elliott signed with the Patriots on a one-year deal in August after seven seasons with the Cowboys. There, he had 8,262 rushing yards and 68 touchdowns across 103 games played. On the receiving side, has has recorded 305 receptions for 2,336 yards and 12 touchdowns.

New England also added Grier following the Matt Corral saga, with the former Cowboys quarterback coming in as the third-string/emergency quarterback.

Just before cutdown day, the Cowboys acquired Trey Lance, who was set to serve as the third-string quarterback. That left Grier on the outs, but the team allowed him to play the complete preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, where he had a standout performance.

The quarterback recorded 305 passing yards and two passing touchdowns along with two rushing touchdowns.

Just a day after being released from the Cowboys, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad, but the Patriots opted to sign him to the active roster.

The Patriots will have their hands full on Sunday, but let's see if this "inside information" helps them out.
