The Denver Broncos just couldn't hold on and lost a heartbreaker to the Las Vegas Raiders in their week 1 matchup.
Russell Wilson looked more like he was playing for the Seahawks than the abysmal effort he put on the field last season. In fact, he was one of the league leaders in passer rating. However, once Greg Dulcich went down, it seemed like he couldn't get anything going.
New head coach Sean Payton was brought in to turn things around, and while the team may have lost, it looked like he did just that. When speaking about the defeat and looking toward the rest of the season, Payton didn't hold back.
"Obviously a disappointing loss." Payton continued, "Kind of a hard-fought game that we kind of felt at halftime this was going to come down to a possession. We didn't make enough plays."
Immediately after, S Justin Simmons took the mic and won over the hearts of the fanbase with a message on determination and his game plan while looking forward to the rest of the NFL season. It's no wonder his message quickly went viral.
"It's a new year. It was a close game, we've just got to figure it out. It's Week 1. No one's throwing in the towel. We'll watch the film, we'll come back, we'll make adjustments and we'll win those games down the road."
Even after a crushing defeat, the team found a way to prime the fanbase to run through a brick wall. One thing is for certain, despite the loss, this team just feels different.
Now, if they can just stay healthy the sky is the limit for this team. We already can't wait for their next game.
