A former Chicago Bear standout is officially making his return to the field.

Two hours after ESPN's Field Yates reported the Carolina Panthers have hosted a work out for former Bears running back Tarik Cohen, Cohen's wife announced he will soon be signing with the team on her Instagram story.

The Bears fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft played four seasons in Chicago and hasn't laced up his cleats since 2020.

Cohen was a fan favorite in Chicago and was an outstanding returner on special teams. However, he's been recently been plagued with knee injuries that have forced him to miss two years of action.

The 28-year-old noted his desire to return to the field once fully healthy during an interview back in February 2022. In August, Cohen revealed he was physically cleared to play and ready to attempt his NFL comeback.

"I want to be the player that I was before I got hurt," he said. "I won't let myself come back before I'm ready and before I feel like I can put the same performances on that I was putting on before I got hurt."

The North Carolina native will be landing with his hometown team after this week's work out. The Panthers currently have running backs Miles Sanders, Chuba Hubbard, and Raheem Blackshear on the active roster with Spencer Brown and Jashaun Corbin on the practice squad.

Cohen's return will be a welcomed one by Bears' fans who wish to see their former star continue his professional career.
