Cleveland Browns are the favorite heading into Monday Night Football during Week 2 but an interesting stat might make things feel even better.
Last season, teams who lost to the San Francisco 49ers were 0-16 in the following game. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the 49ers by a score of 30-7 in Week 1 before this coming Monday’s matchup with the Browns.
It is a new season of course, but that is a very interesting stat that could have to do with the physicality of the 49ers. Last week, the Steelers lost defensive tackle Cam Heyward and wide receiver Diontae Johnson to injury and they won’t play against the Browns.
That is two players that are a vital piece to the puzzle for the Steelers. Of course, anytime you have T.J. Watt on your defense, you’re going to have a chance to wreck a game.
If the Browns can win on Monday night, teams will drop to 0-17 over the past two seasons when losing to the 49ers. Or, Cleveland can be the team that ends the streak and it won’t look so great.
Deshaun Watson has to play better, as does the offense as a whole outside of Nick Chubb who was effective against the Bengals. With the weather expected to be better in Pittsburgh, as well as away from the lake, those things could happen.
Recent history is on the Browns’ side for them to move to 2-0 for the first time in 30 years.
3 Steelers the Browns must keep in check during Week 2
If Cleveland wants to move to 2-0, tabs need to be kept on these three players heavily.
