The New England Patriots are coming off their worst loss of the Bill Belichick era, a 35-point rout handed to them by the Dallas Cowboys.
One of the team's offensive captains, David Andrews, weighed in with some less than encouraging words about the state of the team's mentality after a back-breaking loss, saying, "I think we all have some confidence issues after a performance like that."
The Patriots' game was marked by some ugly offensive drives, highlighted by a Mac Jones pick-six and a Mac Jones fumble that was recovered for a touchdown. The Patriots now sit at 1-3, with worse offensive numbers through four weeks than they had at this time last year. They are currently ranked 29th in EPA per drive through four weeks, whereas they were ranked 16th in EPA per drive during the same period in 2022.
The Patriots are heading into a "must-win" matchup next week against the New Orleans Saints, if there is any hope of salvaging the season.
