Going into the 2023 season Cowboys fans had many reasons to be excited. One of the main reasons being their draft class.
The Cowboys had finally invested in a defensive tackle, they had the feel-good story of Deuce Vaughn and his memorable draft call, and of course many were excited for Texas hybrid defender DeMarvion Overshown.
Unfortunately for Overshown, his season was over before the regular season even began, as he went down with an ACL tear in Week 2 of the preseason.
The good news is he has had surgery and is in "good spirits" following the surgery.
The concerning news is, however, that both knees are wrapped up as if they were operated on, as you can see here.
Now I'm not a doctor, but both knees are wrapped up as if they were both operated on.
And from my stay-at-home PHD I obtained from watching House (and Google), Hamstring tendons are the most commonly used for grafts when repairing ACLs. Why would a player need a knee brace if his hamstring was operated on? And why wouldn't they just use the same knee that was being operated on?
There is a potential scenario at play, per 105.3 The Fan's Bryan Broaddus. Apparently it was a "contralateral graft harvest ACL reconstruction":
Regardless, it is a relief to see Overshown is in good spirits following his surgery and now, it's all about attacking his recovery and getting back on the field in 2024.
