The Minnesota Vikings are facing the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend in a matchup that could have rest-of-season implications. With both teams entering at 0-2, whoever loses this one could be in major trouble.

The Chargers received some bad news first, announcing that star RB Austin Ekeler will miss the game. Unfortunately, the Vikings will also be without a key player for the game.

Edge rusher Marcus Davenport will miss the week three action due to the same ankle injury that has been a problem since the summer.

Davenport was not active for the opener against the Buccaneers, but was active against the Eagles in week two. Davenport would only play four snaps, though, before aggravating his injury.

There was some optimism that the long week would help Davenport be ready for this game, but clearly that won't be the case.

Other than Danielle Hunter, the Vikings have been unable to get any pressure whatsoever. Hunter has four of the team's five total sacks through two weeks. Ivan Pace Jr. and Harrison Phillips have each provided a half sack.

The Vikings signed Davenport to a one-year, $13M contract this offseason with $10M guaranteed. Davenport has never played fewer than 11 games in a season and had never battled an ankle injury as a pro before this season.

Without Davenport once again, the Vikings will need someone other than Hunter to step up.
