The Dallas Cowboys are elevating two interior offensive linemen from their practice squad, the team announced on Saturday.
The two players involved happen to be centers, which carries significant game while Tyler Biadasz's game status remains in question entering Week 3's matchup versus the Arizona Cardinals: Brock Hoffman and Sean Harlow.
While the team's final decision will likely remain unannounced until the Cowboys release their inactive on Sunday, the news doesn't bode well for Biadasz's chances of playing. After all, the staff is seemingly gearing up to have one of the call-ups start while the other backs him up.
If Biadasz, doesn't go, it would mean that the Cowboys will have to wait yet another game to play the O-line combination that they've been intending to use since the 2022 NFL season: Tyron Smith (LT), Tyler Smith (LG), Tyler Biadasz (C), Zack Martin (RG), Terence Steele (RT).
Last year, it was Tyron's training camp injury (and eventually, Terence Steele's) that kept them from lining up like that. This year, it's been Tyler Smith's hamstring issue and now (potentially), Biadasz.
Assuming Biadasz doesn't play, who starts between Hoffman and Harlow will be a highly intriguing decision. While the team has elevated Hoffman in the first couple of weeks, which could be interpreted as a sign of preference, his practice squad elevations run out after Week 3. In other words, he would have to be signed to the 53-man roster next week. Instead, the Cowboys could opt for Harlow, who is being elevated for the first time this weekend and could be elevated again in Week 4 and Week 5.
The Cowboys also signed cornerback C.J. Goodwin to the 53-man roster while placing Trevon Diggs on Injured Reserve. Goodwin was bound to end up on the roster since the beginning of the season as he remains coordinator John Fassel's ace on special teams.
Cowboys’ plan to replace Trevon Diggs is crystal clear
No other way around it.
