The Carolina Panthers look to bounce back in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints.

The Carolina Panthers key to victory

It seems like a familiar drum beat, but for the Carolina Panthers to win come Monday night, it starts with pushing the ball downfield. The Panthers lacked that ability in Week 1. Quarterback Bryce Young's longest throw last Sunday didn't travel more than 20 yards. It was an emphasis during the week for Frank Reich and the rest of the offensive staff — the Panthers want — and need — to push the fall downfield.

Panthers notable injuries

Unlike last week, the Carolina Panthers injury list isn't as drastic.

  • DJ Chark is listed as questionable but participated in practice throughout the week. A safe bet is that he will play.
  • Jaycee Horn was added to the injury reserve list.
  • Brady Christensen was also added to the injury reserve list.

Panthers players to watch against the Saints

  • QB Bryce Young: The Panthers' rookie quarterback talked all week about turning the page. He sounded poised for a breakout game. Seeing how he bounces back from a forgettable performance will give the Panthers more data regarding if he is indeed their guy moving forward.
  • LB Brian Burns: The Panthers dynamic pass rusher spoke this week about not letting his contract be a distraction. It wasn't against the Atlanta Falcons, where Burns was a huge force in the first quarter. Now, it is time to see him do it again. The Panthers need the best version of Burns in Monday night primetime.
  • RB Miles Sanders: The fumble bug bit Sanders in Week 1. He has had a long-standing issue with fumbling dating back to his days with the Philadelphia Eagles. If he is going to be the Panthers' lead running back, he can't turn the ball over. A successful outing for Sanders would be an efficient performance with no turnovers Monday night.
