The Baltimore Ravens feared the worst when Marcus Williams came away from the Week 1 home game against the Houston Texans with a pec injury. Now, the Ravens could very well see Williams make his return to action later this season.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said during a press conference on Monday that Williams will not undergo surgery for his pec injury. The veteran safety is currently rehabbing his ailment.
Harbaugh also noted that as it stands, Williams will not be placed on the injured reserve list. The longtime Ravens head coach did not provide an exact timeline for when the defensive back may be cleared for in-game action, but he reportedly could be back "in as soon as a few weeks."
Williams missed all three of Baltimore’s practice sessions last week, and he was ultimately ruled out from the team’s road matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Multiple Ravens defensive backs upped their play in Williams’ absence on Sunday, including Geno Stone, who logged nine tackles and one interception.
Overall, the current AFC North leaders held Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to a 5.1 yards per pass average in Week 2.
The Ravens have a home clash with the Indianapolis Colts coming up in Week 3.
