The C.J. Gardner-Johnson injury was a tough loss for the Detroit Lions. Especially since Gardner-Johnson had taken on such a big leadership role with the Lions and seemed to be the tip of the spear in the villain era.
He tore his pectoral muscle on Sunday against the Seahawks and since then, all the talk has about how bad the tear is and if he's able to come back this season. Lions Head Coach dan Campbell gave us a little optimism on that situation on Wednesday.
"I don't quite know. But I know that. You know, the reports that we've gotten back on it is that it was it was a very clean injury. And that's normally good for, you know, surgery, recovery, all of those things. So I'd certainly think there's a chance that we could get him back."
So there you go. It's not the huge glimmer of hope you were asking for, but it's indeed a glimmer of hope. Gardner-Johnson's next move is that he will need surgery. We'll see where it goes from there.
I will say that this is injury that players have come back from. J.J. Watt tore his pec early in 2019 and was back with the Texans in December. It's possible. I'd also like to say that I saw Cody Rhodes have a 5-Star Hell in a Cell match with this injury. That really doesn't have a whole lot to do with this other than to say this isn't the type of injury completely ruin your mobility and ability.
