It is currently up in the air whether Odell Beckham Jr. will feature for the Baltimore Ravens in their upcoming road matchup against his former team in the Cleveland Browns. Beckham, who played for Cleveland for three seasons, has missed the Ravens’ last five practice sessions due to an ankle injury.
If Beckham does receive the green light to play in Week 4, then Browns safety Grant Delpit will be ready for the challenge of helping to contain his former teammate.
"He’s been battling injuries, but he’s still like that," Delpit said on Thursday. "He still got routes, still can catch the ball. New offense for him, new quarterback and everything, but he’s still explosive. So if he comes back, he’s going to be on our radar for sure. Can’t pinpoint any certain thing that he does as we’re focusing on, but that’s another playmaker for them."
Beckham has tallied five receptions for 66 receiving yards in two games played this season. He was sidelined from Baltimore’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts due to an ankle ailment suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals.
As with Delpit, Browns cornerback Denzel Ward sees that Beckham can still make life difficult for any defense.
"Great receiver, able to make plays after the catch, and definitely a guy we got to lock into and could change the game," Ward said on Thursday. "So like I said, we got to do our part in taking care of those guys and find a way to win the game."
Beckham recorded 96 receiving yards and two touchdown catches in his lone meeting against the Browns in the 2016 season.
