Update: Apparently the league is not giving out friendship bracelets to fans on "Sunday Night Football" per SNYtv's Connor Hughes. Still, the league has been using Kelce-Swift's relationship to their advantage to create hype ahead of the game. It's paying off for the league, but is it really paying off for the new couple?
The NFL is really leaning into Travis Kelce's budding romance with pop sensation Taylor Swift.
They already released a promo video for "Sunday Night Football" featuring Swift's "Welcome to New York" song ahead of the tilt between the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. With news that Swift will attend a second consecutive game to see Kelce play, they're kicking things up a notch.
According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, the league is set to give away 1989 Sunday Ticket-themed friendship bracelets to fans who attend the game at MetLife Stadium, in “honor of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.”
The NFL never misses a good opportunity for some unique branding and this certainly takes the cake. They say they intend to capture the reactions of fans receiving the bracelets to create a short promotional video too.
The bracelets feature red and white beans with the phrases:
- NY (Heart) KC
- YOUTUBE (HEART) NFL SUNDAY TICKET
The hang tag has a QR code promoting NFL Sunday Ticket and reads:
- Love your team from anywhere
It sounds like you'll only be able to get these friendship bracelets at the game on Sunday, so be sure to be on the lookout should you attend.
