During Wednesday's media-attended portion of practice, Bailey Zappe appeared to be the top quarterback, followed by Malik Cunningham.

And while media are only given a short window to watch, reports came out afterwards that shined some light on what else happened. The main thing that was answered: which quarterback got the most reps.

The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed reports that it was Zappe who got most of the first-team reps, while Malik Cunningham was also getting some opportunities. Because of that, Cunningham could get some opportunities in the pocket in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

He also provided an update on Jones' state of mind after being benched four times this season.

"One source believed Jones is lacking confidence in himself, his teammates and the scheme, adding Jones doesn’t trust his arm, the blocking or coverage reads, so he’s “spiraling," Kyed wrote.

While media only saw Jones standing to the side while Zappe and Cunningham ran through some drills, the third-year quarterback did have a role in practice, running the scout team offense according to MassLive's Mark Daniels

Earlier in the day, head coach Bill Belichick refused to name the starting quarterback once again, saying that practice was going to be very telling this week.

And it already has been, with Zappe appearing to be the starter. Let's see if it stays this way.
