The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on track to have a pretty nice pick in the 2024 NFL Draft if their recent results keep holding up.

The Bucs have looked bad against almost everyone for the past two months, and it doesn't seem like that will change under head coach Todd Bowles.

With Bowles likely done at the end of this season, the Buccaneers should have a blank slate to work with at head coach and a perfect pick to draft a new face of the franchise. Why not go after Heisman-hopeful Jayden Daniels?

Buccaneers fans that also watch SEC football, specifically Florida fans, may want to calm down already. Kyle Trask isn't the long-term answer in a league that values athleticism and a big arm. If he was the future, he'd already be playing.

While the SEC is a beast of its own and rivals would never give their opponents credit, Daniels has been the most exciting quarterback in college football this year, and NFL Draft Analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic mocked Daniels to the Bucs in his most recent mock draft.

A move like this makes a ton of sense on paper if you aren't rabid college football supporter of a team that isn't LSU.

Daniels has been the most productive quarterback in college football this season, and the fact that his Heisman candidacy hasn't been talked about as much as some of his peers has far more to do with the lack of any defense to speak of at LSU.

However, as an individual, Daniels consistently shines in all the right areas.

The NFL values a big arm that can air the ball out consistently. Daniels has done that to the tune of 3,812 passing yards on 72.2% throwing for 40 touchdowns and four interceptions. Check.

The NFL also likes a mobile quarterback. Daniels was also the best scrambling quarterback in college football this year with a staggering 1,134 rushing yards and ten touchdowns on the ground.

The numbers speak for themselves.

Daniels has produced at the highest level against the best competition in the sport, has the right frame and body size, and is likely to win the Heisman. The Buccaneers would be lucky to land him in the top-ten.

When you move on to feasibility, the decision makes a lot of sense for the Bucs as well. The whole NFL watched the Ravens draft Lamar Jackson and saw what a mobile quarterback can do with a coach that is willing to tailor their scheme to an unreal talent. The teams that passed won't make that mistake again.

Caleb Williams and Drake May are sure to get most of the attention in areas where the Bucs have no hope of reaching with their picks, but Daniels could very well be available and would make this offense better instantaneously.

Of all the possible picks for the Bucs to make in a few months, this one might have the most fireworks involved.
