The Seattle Seahawks will play in primetime for the second successive week on Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys, and they now have another national game on the horizon after they and the Philadelphia Eagles made history with a schedule change.

Seattle's Week 15 clash with the Eagles at Lumen Field has become the first game ever to be flexed into Monday Night Football.

It takes the place of the originally scheduled Monday game between the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks and Eagles now play on December 18, with the Patriots and Chiefs' contest brought forward to December 17.

The change is not a difficult one to understand. The Patriots have nothing to play for at 2-9 heading into Week 13 and will in all likelihood be easily swept aside by the defending Super Bowl champions.

By contrast, the Eagles are looking to claim the NFC one seed for the second successive year, while the Seahawks are hoping to stay afloat in the Wild Card race. Both will be coming off games with the San Francisco 49ers and the Cowboys.

The Eagles host the this weekend in an NFC Championship Game rematch this weekend before traveling to Dallas. Seattle follows up its road game with the Cowboys by facing the 49ers for the second time in three weeks at Levi's Stadium.

For Seattle, the downside is that they have one fewer day to rest ahead of their Christmas Eve meeting with the Tennessee Titans, though they probably won't mind the additional day they now have to recover from what is likely to be a bruising encounter with the 49ers.

Philadelphia will also likely be glad of the additional day to recover from facing the Cowboys, the meeting with Seattle representing the last of an ultra tough stretch for the defending NFC champions. The Eagles finish the regular season with two games against the New York Giants sandwiched by a contest with the Arizona Cardinals.
