The Philadelphia Eagles are 10-2 after losing to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13.

Despite chalking up the loss, the Birds are still in control of both the NFC and NFC East.

However, not only will they need to get back on track to winning as the Niners and Detroit Lions attempt to catch up, but a new injury update makes the "easier" stretch of their regular season schedule look a little blurry.

According to several reports on Monday, New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been designated to return from injured reserve and will return to practice this week.

Taylor has missed the last four games due to a rib injury he suffered in Week 8. Daniel Jones was set to make his return but a season-ending injury that he sustained in Week 9 left rookie Tommy DeVito to step in under center.

DeVito has done a decent job leading the New York, completing 62.9 percent of his passes for 697 yards, seven touchdowns to three interceptions through five games.

Meanwhile, Taylor has completed 65.5% of his passes for 579 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in seven names this year.

Will the Giants Turn to Taylor or DeVito?

Who the Giants choose to start for them once Taylor is healthy remains to be seen.

At 4-8 on the season, the Giants are not necessarily a contender but they could turn to Taylor for a veteran boost and attempt to finish the season strong.

If that happens, the Eagles could face a tougher task than they had originally thought when they play the Giants in Week 16 and again in Week 18. Those were originally supposed to be easier wins that would help the Birds clinch the NFC East.

That may no longer be the case.

Taylor is 18th in EPA+CPOE (expected points added/completion percentage over expectation) while DeVito sits at 37th. Part of that has to do with the fact that Taylor has been around the league since 2011.

The Giants could also decide to finish out the year by getting a better look at their rookie quarterback.

For the Eagles' sake, let's hope that's the decision they make so their starters can get some rest ahead of playoffs.
