The Baltimore Ravens are among a few teams that have been linked with former Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted on Sunday that the Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and Buffalo Bills all have "expressed varying forms of interest" in Ertz, who became an unrestricted free agent after he cleared waivers on Friday.
The Ravens may not end up reaching an agreement with Ertz on a free agent deal.
During a press conference on Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh touched on the possibility of the team bringing in Ertz, where he took some time to issue a ringing endorsement of the team’s tight ends room.
"Any time a great player is out there, you sure look at it," Harbaugh said. "But I would say this about that right now: we like our tight ends. We really like our guys. … The guys we have right now, our young guys, they're real guys. They're real players.
"I think right now we'll just roll with those guys."
The Ravens have called on Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar to lead the way at the tight end position since Mark Andrews suffered a reported cracked fibula and ankle ligament injury during the home matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Andrews underwent surgery on his ankle last month, and Baltimore placed him on the injured reserve list on Nov. 25.
Harbaugh said during a press conference last month that there "might be an outside chance" that Andrews could return to action later in the season, and he reiterated this sentiment on Monday.
"I'm not ruling out Mark Andrews for down the road, future," Harbaugh said. "… He's going to do everything that he can to get back down the road."
Andrews will at the least miss the Ravens' next three games, including their upcoming home matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
