Former Titan Marcus Mariota caught up in latest ridiculous NFL take
Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota walks off the field after their 35-14 loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Divisional Round playoff game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has been unwillingly caught up in an NFL hot take that's gone viral over the last 24 hours.
NFL Network's David Carr went on a rant explaining why it might be a good idea for the Philadelphia Eagles to temporarily bench MVP-contender Jalen Hurts for Mariota.
In case you don't know, the Eagles are 10-2 and on the verge of securing to top seed in the NFC with Hurts under center.
"The only way that they get there [Super Bowl].. is Jalen is 100% and he is that dynamic weapon in the run game because that creates your offense on the outside and your one on one," Carr said during NFL Total Access on Tuesday night. "Clearly, Jalen isn't comfortable reading through a defense in a drop back pass scenario. Some would say he's not even good at it. And I think that when you look at this team, you have to have a serious conversation if you're Philly, and you have to really say, 'Is it better for us to play Marcus Mariota right now and let Jalen get fully healthy?'"
Carr isn't wrong in the sense that Hurts has been playing through a knee issue.
However, the injury hasn't been significant enough to keep him sidelined or from winning 10 games
Michael Robinson tried to jump in during Carr's rant in an attempt to back him to his senses, but it didn't work.
"…If you're Nick Sirianni this is the type of decision and conversation you have to have. If you have a big-picture mentality," Carr continued. "And I think you can have that conversation honestly with Jalen and you if you sat him down. That's all Jason talks about is the end result and getting to the Super Bowl and winning that thing. The best way we can do it. They didn't run the football at all with him. Twice, that's not it, man. That's not the winning edge. Put Marcus in there. Win a couple games. Maybe have the number one seed still, you might have it."
Carr even went as far as to say that Mariota is likely "better at playing quarterback" right now over Hurts.
Titans fans can imagine how Eagles fans are taking this outrageous and freezing-cold take.
