The Baltimore Ravens’ call to not go all out to acquire a running back ahead of this season's NFL trade deadline showed just how much confidence they have in Gus Edwards. On Edwards' part, he has continued to prove that the Ravens made the right decision to not bring in a running back last month.

Edwards has upped his game as of late, scoring at least one touchdown in five straight games. The fifth-year running back tallied 388 yards from scrimmage over these five contests.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is pleased to see Edwards enjoy a career season, especially considering that it was just last year that the former Rutgers standout was finishing up his injury rehab process for a torn ACL.

"That's great to see," Jackson said during a press conference ahead of Week 12. "… He was hurt two years ago, and I believe it made him take a step back.

"But this season, I feel like as we've been going on week by week, he's been scoring a touchdown here, two touchdowns there, three touchdowns sometimes. He runs the ball more efficiently. He's just getting his legs back under him, he's doing a great job. He looks like old 'Gus the Bus.'"

Edwards has been quite instrumental in helping Baltimore boast the most dynamic rush offense in the NFL today. Overall, the Ravens currently lead the NFL in rushing yards per game with a 155.1 average.

Baltimore is set to meet a Los Angeles Chargers team in Week 12 that has allowed a 102.0 rushing yards per game average this season.
