The New Orleans Saints have a NFC South showdown with the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12. Before they face off, both teams will celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday.
Many folks remember the Thanksgiving matchup between the two squads in 2019 where the Saints came out on top. They won that game 26-18 to clinch the NFC South title. This weekend's game won't have those implications, but the winner will have a major upper hand for the division.
On the note of Thanksgiving, which of the holiday's foods symbolize Saints players?
Turkey – Demario Davis
Consistent. Davis is the example of it, and many folks would say the same about turkey. On Thanksgiving, not many dishes can outdo an impressively-cooked turkey. Not many linebackers are playing better football than the veteran LB in New Orleans.
Cranberry Sauce – Trevor Penning
This one won't be quite as gleaming. Cranberry sauce is disappointing. Penning has not worked out for the Saints so far. Plus, cranberry sauce has some 'bite' to it. Penning's mean streak compares well to that.
Macaroni and Cheese – Alvin Kamara
When mac and cheese is homemade and hot out of the oven, there's nothing better. At his peak, no running back scared defenses as much as Kamara. Even this season, we've seen his burst and elusiveness on full display.
Apple Pie – Carl Granderson
Underrated! Granderson is playing better than many other edge rushers that get more attention than he does. Pumpkin pie gets a lot of the Thanksgiving publicity, but apple pie is better.
Dressing – Taysom Hill
Got the grit. Hill is one of the hardest working players in the NFL, and dressing carries some of the Thanksgiving plates put on the table. Not the flashiest dish, but it deserves every bit of love that it gets. That goes for Taysom, too.
Sweet Potato Casserole – Chris Olave
Sweet and smooth. That's the route running from Olave and some descriptors for a solid sweet potato casserole. He's flashy and unique compared to many wide receivers. The casserole isn't a dessert, but you also can't call it an entree or side. The comp makes plenty of sense.
Enjoy your stress-free Thanksgiving, Saints fans. Tune in on Sunday for their matchup against the Falcons.
