The Las Vegas Raiders may still not know who their quarterback will be in 2024 – whether it be Garoppolo again, the Raiders riding with Aidan O'Connell, or a rookie in this upcoming draft, but they do know that O'Connell can play a bit of ball. The one knock on O'Connell has been his inconsistency.

But, the game he had on Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers was nearly perfect. At the half, he had four passing touchdowns as the Raiders led 49-0. A bunch of records were broken and or tied in this game. However, to me, the coolest of them all was something that O'Connell did – something only Derek Carr had done previously for the Raiders.

Here is what the Raiders' PR team tweeted out about O'Connell and his more than impressive day:

QB Aidan O'Connell now has four passing touchdowns in the first half. His four touchdown passes are tied for the most in a single game for a rookie QB in Raiders history – joining Derek Carr (4 TDs on 10/12/14 vs. Chargers) as the only two players to accomplish the feat.

O'Connell had four touchdowns at the half, and had the game been a lot closer, I believe he may have finished with more than four on the day. Carr may not have been the best quarterback or led the franchise to any playoff wins, but he did put up some pretty impressive numbers during his time with the Silver and Black.

Yet, O'Connell had more than enough opportunities to surpass that. If anything, O'Connell's performance showed Mark Davis that maybe he deserves a chance in 2024 as the starter. Who knows? Either way, 63 points is pretty crazy, and that's one thing Derek Carr has never done. Heck, even Jakobi Meyers had a great day as a QB.
