The Los Angeles Chargers are officially on the search for a new head coach. Brandon Staley was fired after the team's 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football.

The team must nail this hire. The Chargers are in a tough cap situation, but they have their franchise QB in Justin Herbert. The pressure is on for Los Angeles.

Who will replace Staley at HC? Check out the betting odds for their next leader below.

  • Bill Belichick 3/1
  • Frank Smith 4/1
  • Kellen Moore 4/1
  • Ben Johnson 7/1
  • Bobby Slowik 8/1
  • Brian Flores 9/1
  • Jim Harbaugh 9/1
  • Eric Bieniemy 10/1
  • Dan Quinn 14/1
  • Jerod Mayo 14/1
  • Lincoln Riley 14/1

Belichick is a noteworthy name, of course. That being said, it's hard to see the 71-year old leaving New England to start a new chapter. The 8-time Super Bowl champion will get plenty of attention if he leaves the Patriots, though.

Kellen Moore is the current Chargers offensive coordinator and play-caller. He will get an interview, assuredly. He was a strong HC candidate during his final couple of years with the Dallas Cowboys.

Ben Johnson and Bobby Slowik are young offensive coordinator options that the media and fans love for any opening during this offseason. Johnson is the OC for the Detroit Lions, a top five overall offense in the NFL. Slowik is the OC for the Houston Texans, who have the top rookie QB in C.J. Stroud.

Brian Flores and Dan Quinn are both coordinator options with NFL head coaching experience. Those instances did not go as planned, but that does not mean they can't be solid head coaches in the future.

The candidate list is flurried with veteran, proven coaches that have been around the NFL, as well as young, endearing football minds that need a chance in the league. It will be interesting to see which route the Chargers go.

Los Angeles must enhance their play on both sides of the football in order to contend in the AFC West going forward. No matter their play-calling prowess, their next head coach must be an impressive leader.
