Running backs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven't experienced that many great pairings over the past decade.

Leonard Fournette was able to flash some top-end talent briefly, but even that came to an end as fast as it started.

Now, the spotlight in Tampa has turned to second-year back Rachaad White, and White has a chance of doing something special for the Buccaneers this season if he makes the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl doesn't really matter when there is a fan vote attached, but it would still be cool for the Bucs to have the position represented given how hard they have tried to make it work.

As for White, his case to make the Pro Bowl is better than some might think.

White might be 16th in the NFL with 745 rushing yards and tied for seventh in rushing touchdowns with five, but running the ball isn't the only thing that matters for a running back in the modern game. Receiving matters too, and few guys are as good as White in this area.

When you add in receiving yards, White is fourth in the entire NFL in total yards amongst running backs with 1,164 (good for a tie at 8th overall). It is pretty hard to ignore stats like this.

With the numbers there, all White has to overcome is the popularity contest. Christian McCaffrey is obviously in, but the running back vote after him could go in a variety of directions, and that could be enough to open the door for White.

Most Bucs fans would probably be happier with the team being better, but it sure would be a nice consolation prize to see a very talented and fun young player get some very deserved recognition where it matters.
