Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is one tough dude.

It took him less than 48 hours to return to the team's facility following his appendix surgery on Wednesday. Although expected, it's a huge and very important development ahead of this weekend.

The Cowboys head coach was back on Friday morning ahead of his team's Week 14 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, per Michael Gehlken from the Dallas Morning News

Per health experts, recovering from such a procedure and getting back to a normal routine can take a regular person 1-4 weeks. McCarthy needed two days to be back in the building and it'll be four days since the surgery when he's coaching an NFL game.

That's some serious commitment with the team and its goals. Since the story began on Wednesday, McCarthy's plan was to coach Sunday's key NFC East skirmish.

If you're wondering if McCarthy's gameday routine will look different (I even wondered back on Wednesday if he'd be on the sideline or in the coaches' box), Jerry Jones provided an answer on 105.3 The Fan:

"We’ll be business as usual from a coaching standpoint," Jones said.

The Cowboys owner also clarified that if needed (not expected to be needed), the team already has well thought-out plans in case a coach isn't available since the offseason.

"Of all the things you're familiar with, probably this succession (plans) or who's going to take over a duty with coaches is about as well thought out and planned as anything you'll ever see," Jones added. "That's something that was in place even before he had this issue with appendicitis."

Expect the best, prepare for the worst. The Cowboys are fully expecting to see Mike walking the sidelines and calling offense on Sunday Night Football.

Dak Prescott and company will need him to be on his A-game as this is a must-win game against the Eagles for a chance at stealing the NFC East away down the road.
