Dolphins need to find a way to get key player more involved

As crazy as it might be to say during one of the most successful offensive seasons for the Miami Dolphins in several decades, this hasn't been the best year of Jaylen Waddle's career.
While his quarterback and Tyreek Hill are both posting career seasons (not to mention the best and most effective rushing attack in the league), Waddle's production just hasn't been what it could be.
A huge part of this has been due to Hill putting together an MVP campaign and the ability to lean on safe options like Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane to get touchdowns in the red zone, but more from Waddle would go a very long way in the playoffs.
Again, no one should ever say that this is a bad season for Waddle, especially with so much success for the offense as a whole, but one has to think that getting the young receiver up to his prior levels will make a noticeable difference in the playoffs.
As transcendent as he may be, Tyreek Hill is going to see harder matchups in the playoffs (and down the stretch) as the competition becomes better and defensive coordinators get more chances to find a way to slow Hill down.
When defenses key in on Hill and then still have to account for Mostert and Achane, this should make life easier for one of the better WR2s in the NFL. That is why the Dolphins need to make the most of their most underrated weapon.
Waddle hasn't been bad this year; he has just missed out on some of the big shots that made his 2022 so successful. Most of those chances have gone to Hill, which isn't a bad thing, but the Dolphins will want to make sure that Waddle is ready for what is sure to be a bigger load of key chances in the games that matter.
While perhaps not the best way to show the lack of these chances for Waddle, he did have six games with over 100 receiving yards in 2022 to go along with a dominant 18.1 yards per reception.
In comparison, while the Dolphins' offense has gotten even better in 2023, Waddle has just two games with over 100 yards this season and is only averaging 13.0 yards per reception.
None of this is to say that a dramatic change is needed with the overall offense, but the quality from Waddle in 2022 would be extremely helpful for the Dolphins in the playoffs in 2023.
There is a lot going well for Miami right now that is going to make them extremely formidable in the playoffs, but it never hurts to always search for ways to get better.
Taking extra steps right now to get Waddle as many quality touches as possible is one of the easiest ways for the Dolphins to make themselves all the more difficult to stop in the games that actually matter.
Dolphins have no excuse in Week 13
This should be a straightforward win.
