The Chicago Bears have announced some roster moves leading up to Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions amid concerns at the wide receiver position.

The team announced on Saturday that they have elevated wide receiver Collin Johnson off the practice squad, his first elevation of the year.

The Bears ruled out wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and listed Tyler Scott and Velus Jones Jr. as questionable on the team's official injury report on Friday.

If Johnson takes the field on Sunday, it'll be his first regular season action in 700 calendar days. The former Jaguars fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft last played for the New York Giants during the 2021 season and joined the Bears practice squad back in October.

Johnson has 29 career receptions for 377 yards and two touchdowns. He's made some plays in the past including a four reception, 96-yard performance during his rookie season that included this touchdown.

However, he hasn't caught a regular season pass since Week 15, 2021 with the Giants. Johnson was in line for a higher role in 2022 but unfortunately tore his Achilles and missed the entire season. He was a surprise cut by the Giants back in August.

The 6-foot-6, 222-pound wide receiver could see some work on special teams for the Bears against the Lions on Sunday. Johnson played 44 percent of the special teams snaps in 2020 for the Jaguars and 36 percent of the special teams snaps in 2021 for the Giants.

The fourth-year player is now by far the biggest receiver on the Bears' roster, which could be used to their advantage on Sunday. The Bears have struggled to find production at the position outside of DJ Moore and who knows, maybe Johnson could get some looks.

The major question of course will be the final decision on Scott and Jones. If the two are unable to suit up on Sunday, the Bears will be down to Moore, Darnell Mooney, Trent Taylor and Johnson at the position.
