Let's just go ahead and get this out of the way: Josh Allen should receive zero blame for the Buffalo Bills' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Yet, the All-Pro quarterback and face of the Bills franchise did just that after Sunday's heartbreaking loss.

Allen shouldered the blame for the miscommunication between himself and wide receiver Gabe Davis on a play that could've won the game. Davis was wide open for a touchdown, but both players weren't on the same page in terms of where to run the route/where to place the ball and it ultimately cost them a shot at a season-saving victory.

"I guessed wrong," Allen told reporters when asked about what happened and who was responsible for the miscommunication.

Allen is taking the fall for his head coach

It wasn't Allen and the Bills offense that gave up 24 second-half points that include the three points that sent the game into overtime. On that final drive in regulation, McDermott called the game like the Eagles needed to win the game with a touchdown, not tie it with a field goal in order to send it into overtime.

Allen is the only reason this game was competitive in the long run. Without him, the Bills lose this game by multiple touchdowns. He made so many key plays and finished the game with over 420-yards of total offense and four touchdowns – how is this on him?

Let's just put it this way: McDermott fired former offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and the offense has scored over 30 points in both games since. However, McDermott's defense allowed over 30 points in the one game in which his defense faced not only a competent offense – an elite offense in the Eagles.

Hopefully McDermott steps up and overshadows what Allen said. He is the ultimate leader of the Bills and it'll represent not only a major shortcoming, but a cowardly shortcoming, if he doesn't.
