Things have not been going well for Mac Jones in New England. And because of that, his future with the Patriots is definitely not certain.

During his weekly appearance on WEEI's “Jones & Mego with Arcand," Jones was asked if he still wants to remain with the Patriots or if he thinks he will be better off with another team.

The third-year quarterback's answer was very telling.

“I mean, I’m good right now,” Jones said. “I really want to be the quarterback here. I’ve always wanted to be a quarterback in the NFL, and specifically for the Patriots."

This might seem surprising coming from Jones who has now been benched four times this season.

But he is aware of the issues that have plagued him.

"Like I said, I’ve got a lot of room to grow and everything, and I’m going to just continue to work hard and do all the things I can to put myself in a position to have success, Jones said.

After last game where Zappe came in and led the team to the end zone in his first drive, there is no certainty who will get the start on Sunday for the Patriots matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

And after going through the entirety of last week with no answer on who will be starting, he was asked straight on if he is the starter this weekend.

As usual, he dodged it.

“Look, you always ask me,” Jones said in response.” “The biggest thing for me is that’s a result. I’m going to focus on the process this week. I’m focused on competing and getting better, and that’s all I’ve ever done in any sport. I know if I do that, we’ll be in good hands.

With Will Grier having been waived prior to the game, it appears that it will once again be between Jones and Zappe this week. Practice is all the more important for the two quarterbacks now.
