NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans (4-8) may not be in playoff contention in 2023, but that does not mean the games played around the NFL are meaningless for Titans fans.

Most fans are continuing to watch the Titans take the field every Sunday to cheer on rookie quarterback Will Levis, but that's about it. Outside of that, it's all about Tennessee getting the best draft pick possible.

The Titans got a big boost to those draft odds on Sunday with the early slate NFL results.

The Chicago Bears (5-8) defeated the Detroit Lions (9-4) at Soldier Field by a final score of 28-13 on Sunday. It was the second consecutive win for the Bears, who are now 5-8 on the season. That moved the Titans (4-8) ahead of Chicago in the projected NFL draft order.

Same thing goes for the New York Jets (5-8). With Zach Wilson back under center as the starting quarterback, the Jets got a surprising 30-6 victory over the Houston Texans (7-6). The game was tied 0-0 at halftime, but Wilson went 18-for-21 with 209 yards and two passing touchdowns in the second half to get the win.

Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud struggled on Sunday and left the game early with an apparent head injury.

The win by New York was their fifth on the season, and the Titans have now also passed them in the projected draft order.

As things now sit, the Titans are holding the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. But just one win separates them from the second overall pick currently held by the New England Patriots.

Every game means something and the Titans got a big boost on Sunday afternoon.
