Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell keeps it real after loss to Vikings

On Sunday, we saw another meltdown for another Las Vegas Raiders quarterback. It's not a physical meltdown, like a person going crazy or anything like that, but a quarterback playing so badly that it costs the team a win. That's what happened with Aidan O'Connell again.
I get he is a rookie, and that's fine, but something has to change. When Antonio Pierce, the interim head coach, was asked about it, he just kept it short, saying everything would be evaluated, including the staff.
So, maybe we have seen the last of Aidan O'Connell this season. Maybe we haven't. Either way, his play this Sunday was not good enough, especially in a very winnable game. The fourth quarter and two-minute offense were bad, and that's the biggest part.
After throwing an interception on the second to final drive for the Raiders, O'Connell addressed the media about his play. It's safe to say he kept it very real.
"I haven't done good enough," Aidan O'Connell said to reporters. "I still have full confidence in myself to do this… I'm Working extremely hard to put a good product on the field… I'm not doing it right now, and I gotta do better."
O'Connell had an amazing game against the Chiefs, as Pro Football Focus graded him out as the best quarterback of the week. This week, even after a bye, was not the same.
O'Connell was 21-32. which isn't terrible if you are just reading a stat sheet, but the 171 passing yards and one interception are not great. He also took four sacks, and a few of them were instances where he could have gotten rid of the ball quicker.
But this is what you get with a rookie quarterback.
"It's easy to point the finger at the quarterback," Pierce said. "We knew what we got when we put Aidan at QB; we knew there'd be ups and downs."
