Coming into this game against the Minnesota Vikings, we weren't sure how Maxx Crosby would look for the Las Vegas Raiders. Last week was a bye, but the week before that, he almost didn't play despite saying he would die before missing vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.
He had swelling and bacteria in his knee, but during the bye week, he took the time to get it right, and he did. Crosby was still unstoppable against the Vikings; no matter what they did, nothing worked, as he has now passed his career high in sacks for a season.
Getting the two sacks was impressive, especially in a defensive slugfest like that game. However, he also did a few things that broke the Raiders' records again. He seems to do that every week at this point.
Here is what the Raiders' PR team tweeted out after the game:
DE Maxx Crosby has notched his 11th career game with 2.0+ sacks, tied for the third most two-sack games since 2019. He now has three games with 2.0+ sacks in 2023, tied for the fourth most in the NFL. Crosby's 11 games with 2.0+ sacks are tied for the third most in franchise history and the most games of 2.0+ sacks in Raiders history among players in their first 5 NFL seasons. He has now passed Derrick Burgess (10) for the most games of 2.0+ sacks in franchise history for a player in their first 79 career games.
Burgess is an impressive company to be in. Not to mention, Crosby also notched his 50th career sack on Sunday and is only 50 more away from the 100-sack club. But what's more impressive is the tackles for loss numbers, in which he has 83 career tackles for loss, fourth-most all-time through a player's first five seasons.
Crosby is proving he is not real, not only because he is playing when he shouldn't be but because of his injury and the things he is doing, too.
Raiders’ Maxx Crosby said he would die before missing vs. the Chiefs
Maxx Crosby was doubtful for the Raiders on Sunday.
