The Los Angeles Rams' heartbreaking 37-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens Sunday would have most coaches distraught.

But Rams head coach Sean McVay isn't like most coaches. And after the Rams' overtime thriller, which was capped off by a punt return touchdown by the Ravens, has the coach eager to fight back and start another winning streak that could vault Los Angeles back into NFL Playoff contention.

“That’s a tough way to go down after the way the game went, but it was two teams going back and forth,” he said. “Being able to go toe to toe in a championship-caliber game late in December. Let’s see how we respond. I think you’re going to be proud of the way that this group responds. This was a tough, hard-earned win for the Ravens today. We’re going to come back swinging.”

Los Angeles knew it would need a miracle to beat the championship-contending Ravens. And on a rainy night in Baltimore, the Rams almost got it.

Matthew Stafford played one of the best games since joining the Rams. He threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns.

One of the most critical touchdown plays from Stafford came with less than five minutes in the game with the Rams trailing. Stafford connected with Demarcus Robinson to take a five-point lead.

In the end, it proved not enough. The Ravens forced overtime, and the unthinkable happened. But it doesn't take away from how well the Rams have played in recent weeks. And it is that belief in the Rams' overall process that has McVay excited for what may come in the weeks ahead.

"That was a gut-wrenching loss," McVay said. "Guys put a lot out there, but we’re not going to let the Ravens beat us twice. I can promise you that.”

The Rams' schedule down the stretch does ease up. Los Angeles goes on to face the Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants. Los Angeles ends the season in a matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
