FOXBOROUGH, Mass – With a team struggling to the extent that the New England Patriots have this season, it takes specific individuals to step up and help them.

David Andrews is one of those individuals.

The Patriots captain has been the ultimate leader this season and on Friday, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick took some time to commend Andrews.

"Fantastic," Belichick said about Andrews leadership this season. "It's as good as I've seen honestly. Every day, his performance on a daily basis is really exceptional. Attitude, effort, communication, energy, leadership with younger players, leadership with his peers, communication, you name it."

Andrew is always the first to the podium following each and every game. Despite the losses, he stands up there, answering the tough questions.

Because of that, the media also recognized Andrews, giving him Good Guy award. This is an annual media honor given to one player for “respectfully fulfilling their media obligations with class and professionalism.”

Andrews has done that and so much more, and Belichick certainly agrees.

The captain also holds a lot of respect for the head coach too. When he came to the podium on Wednesday, Andrews was wearing a cutoff sweatshirt. And when asked about it, he said he was taking after his coach.

Having some fun with the media on Friday, Belichick had the perfect answer about how Andrews is now copying his style.

"I have my fashion trends," he said. "One of the things I'm known for his fashion."

Andrews signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2015, going on to become a vital piece of the organization. He won two Super Bowls during his time in New England and under the direction of Belichick.

Yet despite their struggles this season, Belichick has come under fire for many of the mistakes. And his job is being called into question.

Throughout all of this, Andrews has reaffirmed his faith in the coach and doesn't like the criticism he has received.

So one thing has become clear this season: The two hold the ultimate respect for one another.
