Not many quarterbacks have had much of an answer for the San Francisco 49ers’ well-rounded defense this season.

The 49ers have tallied more interceptions (19) than passing touchdowns allowed (15). The reigning NFC West champions have also allowed a 78.0 passer rating, which ranks fourth in the NFL.

Lamar Jackson will be the next quarterback who will go up against San Francisco’s top-five-ranked defense. 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks knows very well that his defense will be put to the test against a quarterback in Jackson who has continued to improve as a passer this year.

"I think, he’s playing so much better from a standpoint of the passing game as well, which, I think creates other elements of his ability to be able to scramble when things aren’t there," Wilks said during a press conference on Friday. "So, he’s really playing good football, not turning the ball over which is a key for them."

Wilks also lauded Jackson as a quarterback who is "very elusive."

Jackson enters Week 16 boasting a 19-1 record as a starter against NFC teams.
