It is that time of the season when head coaches and players start to make a case for just who they believe should take home the NFL MVP award.

Head coaches who have an NFL MVP contender on their roster typically spend some time each week laying out the reasons for why their player should win the prestigious honor. This is not always the case, especially with Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is among the serious contenders for the NFL MVP award, but Harbaugh does not have much interest in this matter.

"It's like, I don't really care," Harbaugh said during a press conference on Monday. "I could care less about any of that, and the beautiful thing is Lamar couldn't care less either. What we care about is the game on [Monday]. That's one thing for sure. … It's a singular focus that our guys have that I love, and that's the way it's supposed to be."

As Harbaugh touched on, Jackson is not much invested in this season’s NFL MVP race. While Jackson appreciates the endorsements that he has received by many to win the honor, he is instead eyeing the biggest prize in the NFL.

"It's an honor, just for me being acknowledged, just to be in that MVP conversation with great guys who [are] all up being nominated for [it]," Jackson said during a press conference on Wednesday. "But I'm just staying locked in.

"I'm trying to win, because I want another championship if anything, another trophy, if that means anything."

Jackson currently boasts the second-best odds to win this season’s NFL MVP award. He has tallied 22 total touchdowns and ranks eighth among qualified quarterbacks in passer rating (96.5).
