Before Josh Heupel and Danny White landed with the Tennessee Vols as a head coach/athletic director duo, they were together in the same roles at UCF.

And those old UCF connections are paying dividends for Tennessee this week ahead of the Citrus Bowl against the Iowa.

The Citrus bowl is played in Orlando, which is the same city where UCF is located. And the Vols, thanks to Heupel/White, are using UCF's facilities this week for practice.

That paid off in a convenient way for Tennessee on Thursday.

VolQuest's Brent Hubbs joined 104.5 The Zone's "Ramon, Kayla, and Will" on Friday to discuss the latest happenings with Tennessee and he pointed out that the Vols were able to practice indoors on Thursday instead of dealing with some rare subpar Florida weather.

"Yesterday (Thursday) it was a little bit rainy [and] Tennessee was lucky," said Hubbs. "They worked out a deal with Central Florida, UCF, where they practiced there. So because of the rain that was around yesterday, Tennessee practiced in an indoor facility. Iowa had to practice outside — which probably didn't hurt Iowa's feelings. They're probably used to practicing in cold, damp weather from time to time up there."

"But Tennessee got to work indoors and, again, the weather forecast for Monday looks absolutely perfect," added Hubbs. "Right at 68, 70 degrees and sunshine."

Practicing indoors on Thursday obviously won't have any impact on who wins the game on Monday, but it was still a nice little perk for the Volunteers on an off day for Florida weather.
