Flacco finds himself on a very short list after his recent achievement

Joe Flacco will have a statue somewhere near Alfred Lerney Way.

Or at least he should be.

In the Cleveland Browns' NFL Playoff-clinching 37-20 win over the New York Jets, Flacco threw three touchdowns with 309 yards and a 121.2 passer rating.

Thursday night marked his fourth straight game with at least 300 passing yards, placing him in a category of his own.

Flacco is the only Browns quarterback to throw for 300-plus yards in four straight games in franchise history since 1999.

Yes, not Baker Mayfield, Deshaun Watson, or the laundry list of other passers in franchise history. It is Flacco who, six weeks ago, was watching cartoons with his kids, returned to football, and set Cleveland on fire.

It was Flacco, who, five weeks ago, was on the practice team, and the Browns were seriously contemplating going the rest of the way with Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Sometimes, real life is better than the movies. So, it is fitting that Flacco, a long-time member of the rival Baltimore Ravens, found his way into the Browns record books.

And he's done it with a level of poise and confidence that only a 38-year-old NFL veteran can have.

“You don't know how many of these moments you're going to get,” Flacco said. “I'm going to remember this for the rest of my life.”

He should. It's not often that anyone goes from the couch to a hero. Flacco got that chance in Cleveland. He's now made the most of it.

But making the NFL Playoff is one thing — going on a Cinderella run is another. And the Browns aren't merely happy to be there. They have their sights set on the ultimate prize. With Flacco playing the way he is, why wouldn't they?

"I’m happy for him having this success, being a part of a football team," Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said. "He’s got something left in the tank.”

If that proves true, the last question left is who plays Flacco in the movie made about this historic Browns run?
